Celebrating Sedgefield
Sedgefield is a vibrant and very positive village in which to live, work or play. The children who attend our school make full use of all the facilities offered and, because of their enthusiasm and excellent behaviour, are often asked to take part in village events. Our Choir, in particular, receives many requests throughout the year to sing at village events, residential homes, the hospital and churches.
There is a wide variety of sporting clubs and activities to suit all interests which take place weekly, as well as a range of family activities throughout the year in Sedgefield. The Mediaeval Fayre; Pumpkin Lantern Parade on Bonfire Night; Snow Parade; Sedgefield Day; tallest sunflower competition and the 'Scarecrow' competition are just a flavour of what the Sedgefield community offers!
Hardwick Park, on the outskirts of the village, offers an excellent venue for practical outdoor visits to support classwork. Visits are very much hands-on and feet-in. . . . . . and always result in some great writing and interesting artwork. We take advantage of all the village has to offer, making visits to the Co-op, Sainsburys, the dental surgery, hairdressers and other local shops and businesses.
We also have strong links with local churches and visit them all to support class studies. Our Easter and Christmas services are held in St Edmund's Church, and the Community Worker for the Methodist church visits regularly to lead assemblies in school. Sedgefield Veterans, a group of ex-forces men and women, come into school to support class studies and to offer their experience and knowledge. The school also takes an active part in their Services of Remembrance.
Fund-raising plays an integral part of school life and we support a number of good causes such as Children in Need, Comic Relief, Sport Relief, NSPCC, Feeding Families, as well as other charities identified by the children.
