Ofsted
Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. Ofsted regulate and inspect schools and colleges to seek improvement in the service. They carry out large number of inspections and regulatory visits in England and publish their finding on their website.
We were last inspected on 25th and 26th April 2023, when our school was rated as a ‘Good’ school (with a number of Outstanding elements). The Inspector, Kathryn McDonald, recognised our school's many strengths. She also commented about how much he enjoyed spending time with our wonderful children. Some of the highlights from her report are:
“The school’s vision of ‘Learning Together for Life’ is central to pupils and staff alike. Pupils are caring and support each other considerately. Staff know pupils well. Many pupils said that ‘everyone looks after each other’.”; ”Leaders and staff are ambitious for every pupil to achieve well and develop pride in the local community.”; “Staff have high expectations for behaviour and learning.”; “Pupils know they are expected to behave well in and out of lessons. Older pupils understand the importance of setting an example for younger children to follow. They enjoy receiving praise from staff and earning ‘green cards’ for showing acts of kindness.”; “…pupils are well-supported and prepared for future learning.”; “Effective assessment ensures pupils’ needs are identified. Pupils with SEND are supported effectively to access a full and ambitious curriculum.”; “Classrooms are calm, purposeful working environments. From the start in early years, children focus on their learning well. They cooperate by taking turns and sharing. In lessons, older pupils encourage one another to achieve well in lessons.” and “The school’s wider curriculum supports pupils’ personal development exceptionally well.”

N.B. KS1 SATs were no longer compulsory from 2024. Although pupils completed the assessments in school, there is no national comparative data. The table shows the data from 2023.
Department of Education Performance Tables
Many Parents are keen to see how we are performing in relation to other schools.
The Department of Education (DfE) Performance Tables provide a reliable and accessible source of comparative information on pupil attainment and progress, absence, workforce and finance. The Performance Tables include percentages of achievement at national expectations or higher in reading, writing and maths and the percentage of expected progress in each subject. You can find the School Performance Tables from the DfE by clicking the link below:

It is possible to select schools and compare the results directly, look at the performance of other Durham schools, or similar schools to ours nationally.
